Music

The Music Department at Methody is a community where Middle and Senior School pupils are encouraged to develop their talents and performance skills.

Music is deeply embedded in the life of the College, with pupils participating in a wide range of ensembles, from orchestras and choirs to jazz, swing, and traditional Irish groups. Led by a team of highly skilled educators and peripatetic teachers, pupils receive expert tuition and regular opportunities to perform in prestigious venues such as St Anne’s Cathedral and the Waterfront Hall.

At the senior level, ensembles such as the Chapel Choir—winner of multiple national competitions including RTÉ’s All-Island Choir of the Year—perform to professional standards and have toured internationally, including performances in Westminster Abbey and Carnegie Hall. Pupils regularly progress to top conservatoires and music colleges, choosing Methody for its balance of musical excellence and academic breadth.

The College is particularly renowned for its choral tradition, with groups like the Girls’ Choir and Junior Singers gaining acclaim through radio and television performances. Weekly rehearsals and a packed concert calendar ensure that every pupil, regardless of experience, has the chance to develop their musicality and perform publicly.

Whether through chamber music, orchestral works, or contemporary ensembles, Methodist College offers a rich and varied musical experience. For those unable to attend in person, highlights from concerts are often shared online, showcasing the exceptional musicianship of Methody pupils.

We warmly invite you to experience the energy and artistry of our music department, whether by attending a concert or exploring our performances online.
