Sixth Form at Methody
Success at GCSE ensures that the majority of current 5th Form pupils at the College will transfer into 6th Form to undertake a 2 year study programme of 3 or 4 AS subjects taken in Lower Sixth and 3 A2 subjects in Upper Sixth.
Methodist College traditionally attracts a significant number of applications from pupils wishing to transfer from other schools, both secondary and grammar.
Entry to 6th Form is dependent on achieving good grades in six or more subjects at GCSE. Full details on the admissions criteria for 6th Form including those interested in attending the College who currently live outside Northern Ireland can be accessed on our admission page.
Sixth Form Centre
In Methody, the 6th Form Centre covers four floors and caters for student needs by providing:
- Large Recreational floor
- Coffee bar
- Study floor
- Computers
- Table-tennis
- Extensive locker area ( Although during COVID restrictions, lockers are only allocated where there is a genuine need).
Miss Edgar, the Study Supervisor ensures that a good study atmosphere prevails.
We hope that the Sixth form centre is a place within the confines of the College where senior pupils can assume greater responsibility for their own work so that they make the transition from school to university life more easily. The Sixth Form Centre is run by a Forum of 30 Sixth Form Students who assist with the day to day running of the Centre, alongside the Warden, Mr Lindsay and deputy warden, Mr Gallagher..
