Music

Music plays an important part in Junior School life, with plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Pupils can join a wide range of instrumental groups including Junior Orchestra, Band, Swing Band, Trad Group and Drumming Group, while those who enjoy singing are encouraged to take part in Junior Choir or audition for Junior Singers, a smaller ensemble of around 35 voices. Our groups rehearse regularly before and after school and perform at major concerts and events such as the Autumn Concert in St Anne’s Cathedral and the annual Spring Concert in the Waterfront Hall.

In addition, pupils may choose to take individual lessons with our team of highly skilled peripatetic teachers, developing their talents and gaining confidence as young musicians throughout their time at Methody.

Opportunities available with Music

Our Girls' choir has an outstanding reputation through concerts and performances on radio and TB as well as having toured with the Vienna Boys' Choir in Vienna and Salzburg.

Other music groups include the Junior Choir, the Junior Singers, the Junior and Senior Orchestras, the Big Band, the Brass Group, the Swing Band, the Irish Traditional Group as well as other small ensembles.
