Sports Hall

Before the renovation of the original buildings the Sports Hall and Art Department were the newest addition to the main college campus. Built on the site of some old tennis and netball courts, it was felt that the college required a more substantial indoor recreational space for the teaching of PE and Games as well as a specialised space for studios. A fundraising effort was undertaken by past and present members of the college community and in 1995 Sir Roger Bannister officially opened this new facility.

The sports hall itself can play host to huge range of sports from netball and basketball to volleyball, badminton and the infamous ‘mat rugby’.

Sport has always played a significant role in the life of the college and the sports hall pays a little bit of tribute to that with team photos from all of the different sports represented on the walls. It is here that you will find both the rugby and girl’s hockey school’s cups on display, and it is here and the fields of Pirrie Park and Deramore that many a Collegian’s sporting careers have begun.
