Twenty years ago, Methody set up a link with Asha, an educational and health charity which provides help for slum dwellers in Delhi, India. This strong connection has enabled our 6th Form students to travel to Kalkaji, Delhi and live and work in this slum community. MCB pupils have benefited greatly from this experience. Recently, we have not been able to travel but we still hope to raise some money to help them in their vital work!
The Asha people who work on the ground, now need our help more than ever. Covid has hit slum dwellers hard and Asha have directed all their efforts to helping relieve the impact of illness and Covid disruption. Dr Kiran Martin, the founder of Asha, has appealed directly to us for help. https://asha-india.org/
Form One pupils and Form Two pupils to got out into the fresh air, to do a sponsored walk with staff from Methody to Pirrie Park. On the morning of their games day, they walked over to Pirrie, enjoyed each other’s company, engaged in some fun activities when there and then walked back to school in the afternoon. The walk there and back is approximately 4 miles.
