NICCY stands for Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People
Report by Karen Bennington 1M
When we heard that NICCY were coming in to school for the LLW Day we thought it would be a good idea to go to their studio in Great Victoria Street and find out about them. All of us went down and the people were very welcoming. Monica and Niall were the workers coming into the school. They told us a bit about themselves and gave us some free gifts and T-shirts.

The Commissioner's job is to promote and safeguard the rights and best interests of children and young people. It is part of NICCY's job to make sure that all of their work promotes the rights. They do this by supporting children and young people to get involved through new and fun ways to learn about their rights, and talking to NICCY if they think their rights are being broken.
On Wednesday 11th June Monica and Niall came in to school. They talked to the whole class about the work that they do and how they help. They had organised an activity for the whole class and they kindly let six of us help them. The activity was really helpful and fun. We are not giving anything away because the same activity will be used on Friday 20th June for all of first form. We were the six people who helped and went to the NICCY studio and we would like to thank Monica and Niall for being so kind and welcoming and for the T-shirts they provided for all of 1M.
