Tools for Solidarity is a charitable organisation run by volunteers. It is based at Down Patrick and Belfast in Northern Ireland.Tools for Solidarity collect used tools such as sewing machines, hammers, spades and recycle old unwanted tools. These tools are refurbished and shipped to many African countries such as Ghana, Uganda and Tanzania, for distribution through women's group and village co-operation to poor people.

Women work on sewing machine to stitch clothes and sell them to earn their livelihood. Men work as Carpenters and use these hand tools to make furniture and beds. Tools for Solidarity also provide spades to farmers to cultivate their land. They grow Corn which is a staple food. They also grow Sugar Cane, Banana and many other fruits and vegetable.

Schools in these countries are not well equipped for teaching and learning. The rooms are without electricity. Tools for Solidarity provide equipment as well as tools, such as sewing machines to help girls to learn the art of sewing and weaving.

Tools for Solidarity is trying to help people in need. They help disabled people as well to enable people to work for themselves, to improve their standard of life, to gain self respect through their own skills and achievements and to become more self reliant.

I appeal to people through the Tools for Solidarity to donate unused and repairable hand tools which can make immense difference to the lives of impoverished families in the third World.

Thank You
