Summer Term 2012
Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Summer term and roughly how long will each topic take?
Wind Chime - The practical piece and metals booklet should take until Easter.
Clock - The practical piece and wood booklet should take about 4 weeks.
Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?

Are there any resources on Learning NI that parents should be aware of concerning any of the topics/ booklets that will be covered this term?
All three booklets are on LNI.
- Mobile phone holder (plastic)
- Wind chime (metal)
- Clock (wood).
Please see the attached design sheet layout proforma as an example of good practice.
Summer Examination
1 hr exam based on wood metal and plastics theory. There may also be a design based question so pupils should bring pencils, colouring pencils and a ruler to the exam.
Spring Term 2012
1. Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Spring term and roughly how long will each topic take?
- Wind Chime – 6 weeks
- Clock – 6 weeks ( will fall into summer term)
2. Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?
The wind chime will not be assessed.
The clock will be assessed – 25% Design Sheets & 25% Practical.
There will be a final summer exam based on the years work – 50%.
3. Are there any resources on Learning NI that parents should be aware of concerning any of the topics/ booklets that will be covered this term?
All booklets are on LNI.

Autumn/Winter Term 2011
1. Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Christmas term and roughly how long will each topic take?
- Safety – 1 week (September)
- Mobile Phone Holder (including practical and theory) – 8 weeks
- Car Brochure Project – 8 weeks (along side phone holder)
Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?
- The Car brochure will be set over a number of weeks as homework and will form the basis of continuous assessment.
- Pupils will also be assessed on their practical work and any design sheets that will go along with it.
