Summer Term 2012
Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Summer term and roughly how long will each topic take?
These topics are included in the Form 1 Booklet 2
Algebra 2 (Primes, factors & multiples) - 2 ½ weeks
These topics are included in the Form 1 Booklet 3
Algebra 3 (Coordinates) - 1 week
Algebra 4 (Solving equations) - 3 weeks
Number 4 (Multiplying and Dividing Fractions) - 2 weeks
Shape, Space & Measure 3 (Symmetry) - 1 week
Algebra 5 (Sequences) - 2 weeks
Data Handling 2 (Probability) - 1 week
Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?
There is a formal test at the end of Algebra 3 - to revise topics from Algebra 1, 2 & 3 and a Mental Maths Test (before the examinations).
The Summer Report mark will be made up of 80% from the Summer Examination and 20% from Continual Assessments (Class Tests and Mental Maths Tests).
Are there any resources on Learning NI that parents should be aware of concerning any of the topics/ booklets that will be covered this term?
All booklets are on Junior Maths Revision and Support Material course. Also included are Revision sheets and Success Criteria for each topic and a Powerpoint on how to effectively make use of them. Other Powerpoints and resources are also there, including past Christmas and Summer Examination papers for use towards the end of the year.
Spring Term 2012

- Handling Data 1 (Averages, frequency tables) - 3 weeks
- Number 3 (Rounding, BIDAMS, Units of measurement) - 2 weeks
- Algebra 1 (Collecting like terms, expanding brackets) - 2 weeks
- Algebra 2 (Primes, factors & multiples) - 2 ½ weeks
These topics are included in the Form 1 Booklet 3:
- Algebra 3 (Coordinates) - 1 week
- Algebra 4 (Solving equations) - 3 weeks

All topics are included in the Form 1 Booklet 1:
- Number 1 (working with numbers) - 1 week
- Shape, space & measure 1 (perimeter & area) - 2 weeks
- Number 2 (fractions & decimals) - 4 weeks
- Financial Capability (using money) - 1 week
- Shape, space & measure 2 (angles and polygons) - 3 weeks
Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?
Formal tests at the end of:
- Number 1 (20% of Christmas mark)
- Shape, space & measure 1 (20% of Christmas mark)
- Number 2 (20% of Christmas mark)
Formal test to test all topics at the end of:
- Shape, space & measure 2 (30% of Christmas mark)
- Followed by a Mental Maths Test (10% of Christmas mark)
