Summer Term 2012
Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Summer term and roughly how long will each topic take?
In Terms 2 and 3 the following pieces of Controlled Assessment will be completed:

A role play and a group discussion |

| Each is worth 10% of the overall Summer assessment (10%) |
Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic? If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?
There will be preparation for the summer examination paper which consists of two sections: Section A Creative/personal writing, Section B Response to non-fiction text. Each section is 25% of the overall assessment mark.
Pupils will also continue with the structured spelling programme.
Are there any resources on Learning NI that parents should be aware of concerning any of the topics/ booklets that will be covered this term?
N/A although some individual teachers may create courses for pupils to use for preparation.

The following areas will be covered:

Autumn/Winter Term 2011
Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Christmas term and roughly how long will each topic take?
September:
- Baseline tests in reading/writing/spelling.
- Writing task ‘First Day at MCB’ marked using self-assessment grid
- Talk to the class on a chosen book
- Spelling programme – begin. Lasts all year
By half term:
- Autobiographical project (extended writing and presentational devices) - 40% of Winter assessment
By 18th November:
- Controlled Assessment (40% of Winter Assessment)
- Close study of an extract from the class novel
- Autobiographical talk (20% of Winter Assessment)
