Summer Term 2012

The Art Department runs three units over the spring and summer terms and staff choose the order in which they deliver these to make best use of resources. Some of this information will already be in the details for the Spring Term section below.

Which booklets/ topics/ themes etc will be covered in the Summer term and roughly how long will each topic take?

UNIT 1:
Corporate Identity
Pupils design a corporate identity for an aquarium, working in groups and as individuals, they design a logo,  poster and homepage for a website using Photoshop.

UNIT 2:
Ceramics
Pupils produce a low-relief ceramic tile inspired by their favourite building.

UNIT 3:
Mixed media textiles
Pupils produce a mixed media textile outcome on the theme ‘Under the Sea’.

Will there be an end of topic test or any formal homeworks/ assessed coursework for a particular topic?  If so, what will it entail and roughly when will it be set?

Work is continuously assessed and the best 2 coursework marks are taken for summer assessment. This represents 80% of the marks for assessment. 10% of the marks come from the Exhibition Report (see attachment). This is set over the Easter holidays and 4 weeks are allowed for its completion. The remaining 10% comes from the average for all practical homeworks.

Are there any resources on Learning NI that parents should be aware of concerning any of the topics/ booklets that will be covered this term?
