TIM LOANE INSPIRES MOVING IMAGE ARTS STUDENTS
09/11/2018

“Drama is about the moment the characters get to know themselves”

Northern Ireland writer and director Tim Loane took some time out of this busy schedule this week to spend time with the A Level Moving Image Arts students.

Tim focused his talk on the essential components the students need to consider when writing drama for screen. He talked about his own industry experience and challenges he sometimes faces when trying to come up with an engaging piece of drama.

The students studying MIA are currently developing their own scripts and screenplays for their short films and they benefited enormously from Tim’s help and advice. He opened up the floor for students to pitch their own ideas to him, before offering constructive criticism. He advised the young makers to simplify their ideas and aim to have one big moment of climax in their shorts.

The students left feeling they had the tools to go away and develop their initial ideas into emotive pieces of drama for screen. Tim will hopefully be returning to visit the students at the editing stage of the process. We look forward to seeing him later in the year.
