Open Evenings

Parents and past pupils will remember it as the Lecture Theatre.  For pupils in Form One  it is where they rush at 1.10 to get a tub of  Pasta-King or a slice of pizza, but for 2 magical evenings at the end of last week, the Deli Bar transported its visitors to whichever European city they wanted to be in.

Guests in Cafe ChitChat Ready to serve

With the smell of freshly brewing coffee permeating the room and Lebkuchen, a German speciality, and a selection of French cheeses on offer, guests of Café ChitChat were able to relax to the strains of Tchaikovsky, played by Philip Christie and accordion music of central Europe, played by L6th pupil Dongmin Kim.  Even one of the waitresses looked like she had just flown in from Spain especially for the occasion.

Café culture is an important part of everyday life in mainland Europe so it was appropriate that Daniel Xu and Adam Henning, the backbone of the MCB Chess Club, should emulate what can often be seen in Parisian cafes and were lost to the world, so engrossed were they in their game of chess.

Prospective Chess Club members!

For many of the visitors to Café ChitChat it was a chance to see where current and future pupils can enjoy good food on a daily basis.  For others it was an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of another two very busy Open Nights at MCB.
