Hilary McGrady visit to Methody

Recently our Upper Sixth pupils were very fortunate to hear a talk from the Director-General of the National Trust, Hilary McGrady. The visit was organised by the Speakers For Schools Charity.

In a very interesting speech, Hilary told the pupils about her educational background and her path through art college, marketing and tourism which led to her current position. We also learnt about the National Trust and Hilary’s aims for its development in the coming years.
As Hilary is from Lisburn originally, it was inspiring for the pupils to hear about a Northern Irish woman who has such an important leadership role within the UK charitable sector. Hilary’s words of advice- find a job you love and there is no replacement for hard work- were really motivating for the pupils as they think about future exams and career plans.
