Form 4 Pupil Achievement
GCSE pupil Amy Jeffers who yesterday competed in the Northern Ireland final of FutureChef, a cooking competition held at Belfast Met Titanic Campus. Amy’s menu consisted of pan fried duck breast, dauphinoise potatoes, vine roasted tomatoes and a plum sauce. For dessert, deconstructed vanilla cheesecake with a berry compote. She will now progress to the UK finals held at Kingsway College, Westminster in March and represent NI in the 13-16 category at only 14 years of age. It is a fantastic achievement in a competition that is taken very seriously across the water. Amy and another Form 4 pupil (Faye Fitzpatrick) have been preparing since November both after school and at home. Amy will now be mentored by a local chef, helping to strengthen Methody’s links with the community and the food/restaurant industry. The company organising the competition, Springboard, also aim to inspire budding cooks into catering and provide resources which are useful when discussing career options with  Home Economics classes.
