Food & Nutrition Pupils

Form 5 Food and Nutrition pupils recently enjoyed a day at Forestside Cookery School hosted by Chef and owner Stephen Jeffers.

The pupils participated in a 3 hour cookery lesson which was based around the title of their controlled assessment ‘a meal to help prevent iron deficiency anaemia’. The pupils got to make smoked salmon, pea and potato pancake served with a chive crème fraiche for starter, beef ragu served with gnocchi for main course and a sticky toffee pudding served with a rich toffee sauce for dessert. An enjoyable day was had by all in which pupils got to develop their practical skills in a relaxed and informal setting.
