Chicago Choir visit
24/01/2012
On Friday 20th January, the award-winning Carthage Choir from Chicago came to Methody’s Chapel of Unity as part of their Ireland & Scotland Tour 2012. They came to perform with three of Methody’s choirs in a lunchtime recital, held at 1.20pm. Methody’s Junior Choir, the Girls' Choir and the Chapel Choir sang for the visitors.

Led by its conductor, Dr Edwards Garcia-Novelli, the choir performed a varied program of secular and sacred choral music from around the world including ‘Shenandoah’ and ‘Scotland the Brave’ as well as a couple of African-American spiritual songs. Crowd favourites included ‘Sleep’ by Eric Whitacre, ‘Witness’ arranged by Damon Dandridge and ‘Tell My Ma’ arranged by Jon Washburn, which had everyone singing and clapping along!

Overall, the event was enjoyed by everyone. Be sure to check out the Chapel for a lunchtime recital every Friday lunchtime at 1.20pm - a great showcase of the musical talents in Methody. It’s a must!
